Go! Noodle – Big & Slurpy! is a chain of delivery kitchens specialising in noodles and noodle soups. That sounds like culinary heaven to me so, irrespective of the fact that we already had dinner that night, I still went ahead and ordered a home delivery from their Motor City depot. Compounding my euphoria was the fact that they had Laksa and Soba on their menu, both favourites of mine. Of course, they were the first items I added to my order, Coconut Turmeric Laksa Soup and Avocado Soba Noodles to be specific. I also ordered two of their best sellers, Pepper Chicken Udon and Pad Thai Classic plus some Veggie Spring Rolls to start. With the exception of the laksa, everything was ordered with chicken which is the protein our daughter prefers.

The food arrived late, the delivery biker missing, not just our villa, but our entire compound – hmm. That said, everything arrived still hot and very well packed, the soup separate from the noodles. My wife loved the laksa. I did not, finding it bland and a little sour. I prefer the laksa I recently had from Asian Wok. Neither are the real thing, although the latter is closer. The Soba noodles were lovely, my favourite of the lot and something I will definitely order again. No one liked the Pad Thai, the noodles of which had stuck together. It was devoid of any form of taste whatsoever. The pepper chicken udon was the other extreme, with too much going on – like something you make with whatever is leftover in the fridge.

All in all, I love the concept…and the soba. I’ll order from these guys again. Not just for the soba noodles but also to see what their other dishes taste like.
