The Hamptons Café is a homegrown boutique restaurant and café franchise inspired by the lifestyle of the Hamptons on Long Island’s South Fork in the state of New York. The interior of this biggest of three branch in Jumeirah Islands is the epitome of East Coast chic and could well have been designed by Ralph Lauren himself. It’s very similar in look and feel to The Maine, itself also an East Coast themed restaurant. The big disadvantage The Hamptons has to The Maine though, is that it is not licensed. This is a very popular venue, especially in the better weather where you can sit outside and enjoy the lake view.

The Hamptons menu is best described as international and includes, in addition to an amazing all-day breakfast, classics from France, Italy, India, the Far East, Middle East and of course the US. So, whether you fancy a tagine, risotto or a burger there’s something on the menu for everyone. Yes, of course there are vegetarian options too. On this occasion I ordered the grilled sea bass which was superb. The diversity of orders from our table of eight was astounding, no one ordered the same. My son was unusually complementary of his mushroom risotto.

Service at The Hamptons is rushed but friendly, accommodating but not fast. The food and ambiance at Hamptons though, and this is across all branches, is consistently good if a little pricy. Tired of men frolicking around in frilly uniforms at Shakespeare’s or the artificial rustic look of the French country bakery at Paul’s, well then this could be the place for you. This Jumeirah Islands branch is by far the best of the three I have been to and well worth a visit.
