Bacchanal is the all-day dining restaurant at the stunning Caesars Resort on Bluewaters Island. Named after its A-lister sibling at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Bacchanal offers a buffet which is underwhelming by comparison. It’s only fair to mention that it costs significantly less here. Located on the ground floor, the restaurant ticks all the boxes imaginable where décor and ambience are concerned including a spectacular sea view which, at this time of year, is best enjoyed from its expansive terrace (just watch out for those cheeky, thieving birds during breakfast).

Conscious of the family element associated with a “resort”, the buffet itself is geared to catering to kids as much as to adults. In fact, the interior of main buffet area is dominated by a “live” island which includes a hugely popular waffle station, juices, and endless desserts, etc. Not interested in any of these, I quickly found the egg station and ordered myself a masala omelette. While it was being prepared, I served myself some sautéed mushrooms and chicken sausages (no pork available at this resort) and surprise, surprise some sambar as well. So, you’ve got English breakfast (anything which includes bakes beans I call English) plus some Foul, Sambar and Noodles bringing up the ethnic section. There’s a decent fruits and salad bar followed by a cold section which I won’t bore you with.

Service is where Bacchanal makes up for any buffet shortcomings – its impeccable. I found the staff well-groomed, well trained, genuinely friendly and infinitely accommodating. My thanks to the beautiful African hostess who’d remind me not to forget my backpack and cap every time I’d leave. She and the rest of the amazing crew there ensured we started our mornings with a full belly, positivity and big smiles….nothing else matters.
