Mitts & Trays – Bluewaters Island

Following on the success of its City Walk branch, homegrown Mitts & Trays has opened a second branch near Ain Dubai on Bluewaters Island, another amazing Meraas project. The interior of this latest incarnation has the same familiar modern Euro bistro look and feel of the original, and a spectacular view of Ain Dubai from the outdoor seating area (not usable in this weather).

The M&T menu looks like a collection of someone’s favourite dishes and includes breakfast, salads, burgers, pasta, steak and even a curry. There’s something for everyone from vegetarians to the health conscious. My food buddy Soheil and I tried both their Wagyu Beef and M&T Chicken Sliders, Cola Glazed Lamb Chops and the Braised Short Ribs. Whilst I loved the chops and ribs, both perfectly cooked, I was less impressed with the sliders, feeling the sliders I had at London Slide were better. Soheil disagreed with me. He actually liked the sliders at M&T better. So the jury’s out on that one. If I had to choose a favourite it would be the braised short ribs.

Our dining experience at M&T was made all the more pleasant by a chirpy young Filipina by the name of Ivy who impressed us with her happy manner and attentiveness.

I’ll be honest, I was pleasantly surprised by everything at M&T, from the ambiance and food to the service. I have no reservations in recommending this lovely restaurant. And the fact that it is locally owned adds pride to my list of accolades.
