Nelson’s is a gloriously English gastropub at the Media Rotana in Barsha Heights. Its interior is not dissimilar to the Belgium Beer Café just down the road in the Millennium Hotel, only there’s an inexplainable touch of aristocratic “Rule, Britannia!” to this one. It’s very English. And that’s not a bad thing considering that the British Pub is a dying breed.
In addition to its colonial style interior, the other ace up Nelson’s sleeve is its daily noon to 20:00 happy hour! How great is that? My diet at Nelson’s has been strictly liquid so I can’t comment on the food, but service is warm, friendly and attentive in a way no English pub in the UK can ever be (service and pub are not words commonly used in the same sentence in the UK). Worth a visit.
