The Rubbing House is a picturesque gastropub situated (literally) on the Epsom Racecourse; if you’re sitting outside you can actually see the winning post. Where location and ambience are concerned, this is a very, very special pub.
The food at The Rubbing House has a distinctly Mediterranean twist to it, Greek particularly. Our table ordered their rustic Homemade Moussaka, a beautiful Prawn Linguini (weekly special), a Beef Bourguignon and good old English Bangers and Mash. I did my begging blogger’s round of the table, getting a taste of everything, and really liked the Prawn Linguini and the Beef Bourguignon. The Moussaka was pretty good too. The sausages were, well, sausages.
Like at many pubs in London these days, service at The Rubbing House is…um, temperamental, especially on race day where outside seating is in super high demand. Keep your expectations in check and you won’t be disappointed. At the end of the day, this is a pub you will probably visit to either watch the races from or to enjoy the scenery from. And where that’s concerned, it is most definitely worth a visit.
Waste NOT. Want NOT.

I’d steer clear at the moment. Only got a 1 for food hygiene in Feb 2019 and I know of people who have been ill after eating at the Rubbing House. They need to sort themselves out before I go there again.
