Bhoujan is one of the original restaurants to open in Motor City…nearly a decade ago. Faithfully Indian, it is today very much part of the fabric of Motor City and Arabian Ranches. Sadly, I got into consecutive arguments with them, first over their weekend South Indian breakfast program, and then over their evening Chaat promotion. And as a consequence, I’ve never set foot in there, or ordered from them…till now. Talk about being pleasantly surprised – the food from Bhoujan was delightful.
I called and ordered a home delivery of Chicken Chettinad, Mutton Bhunna, Bhindi Do Pyaaza and a couple of Romali Rotis. The bhindi (okra or ladies’ fingers) was simply superb. So much so that I could have had bhindi and a roti and been happy and content.

The Chicken Chettinad served at Bhoujan is a gorgeous curry but it’s not in the slightest like the Tamil original. That said, it was the first to be polished off – everyone loved it.

Mutton Bhunna is one of my favourites curries, and these boys have done a great job with theirs; the meat was tender, and the gravy dark, rich and full of flavour.

I can think of no other restaurant in the area which serves such good Indian food. You’d have to go all the way to Barsha to come close. Sad, that it’s taken a good ten years for me to figure that out. Better late than never.
Waste NOT. Want NOT.
