Prabhu’s is a pure vegetarian Indian restaurant near the Aster Hospital on Kuwait street in Mankhool, Bur Dubai. Its extensive menu has something for everyone (except of course carnivores) including North and South Indian, chaat, biryani, thali (weekends) and…um, Chinese.
My sis and I were there to try their South Indian breakfast early on a Friday morning not long ago and I think we got there too early because we found the morning pooja (prayer) still ongoing; the restaurant’s handsomely appointed interior was heavy with the smell of incense and echoed with a Bhajan being played too loudly – it was almost as if someone there was in greater than usual need of God’s benevolence that morning. I don’t know what those boys were burning but Pari and I were quite giddy (and a little giggly) after a few minutes. We made a note to come a little later in the morning if we revisited.
Schezwan dosa Idli Dip Vada Masala Dosa Milk Tea Kesar Rasmalai
Our breakfast of Idli, Vada and Masala Dosa certainly warranted a revisit – all were delicious – the Sambar in particular, a real king maker. No filter coffee though, we had to ‘settle’ for some of their amazing, frothy milk tea. We ended our meal with some lovely, chilled Kesar Rasmalai and left happily stuffed….and spiritually awakened. There are plenty of restaurants throughout Bur Dubai which serve South Indian breakfast– Prabhu’s is definitely one of those worth consideration, worth a visit.
