Aryaas Gourmet Veg is one of my favourite South Indian vegetarian restaurant chains in Dubai. That said, I’ve only had my holy trinity of South Indian breakfast here – dosa, idli and vada, but I know Aryaas has a lot more to offer and I’ve been meaning to try their Bisi Bele Bath (sambar rice) and Bagala Bath (curd rice) which I hear are also really good. I remember the first restaurant which opened opposite BurJuman on Khalid Bin Al Waleed Street in Bur Dubai. It was made famous by its rocket dosa and of course the assortment of chutneys served with each dish. While the novelty of the rocket has since subsided, the chutneys still add to the appeal of any meal at Aryaas.

Located opposite Karama Park with heavy weights Saravanaa Bhavan immediately next door, Venus a little further down and Madhura and Woodlands on the other end of the road, this Karama branch really has its work cut out. Its interior is a two-story affair, the ground floor of which is narrow but well appointed, spotlessly clean and flush with light from its ceiling to floor windows. I think what differentiates Aryaas (for me at least) is its deliriously delectable, tart and tangy sambar. Just before Ramadan, Sheikh @mansoormadani and I back-to-back taste tested the dosas at several of the restaurants I have mentioned, and it was the sambar at Aryaas which won our favour. Additionally, the dosas are crispy, the masala delicious, the idlis fluffy and the vadas are fresh with lovely bite to them. And then of course, there are those amazing chutneys.

So, if you’re looking for a really good South Indian breakfast, Aryaas is definitely ONE of the better options available.
