GT Burger is Dubai’s newest burger joint. It probably won’t be by the time I finish this review, so frequently are new ones popping up these days. This one though, is one of the gooduns. It’s also a physical restaurant and not one of those faceless, soulless delivery kitchens. Located in Block B of the Office Park Building on Abdullah Omran Taryam Street in Dubai Media City, its interior is bright and cheerful and screams fast food (in a good way, as my daughter likes to say). The GT concept (GT stands for good times not grand turismo) is the labour of love of grill master and cool dude, Pierre, who was on hand to supervise our order.

There were six of us and we started with chicken wings and onion rings while our burgers, hot-dogs and milkshakes were being prepared. The wings come with two sauces, Buffalo and Korean; I think we all preferred the tangy, slightly spicy buffalo flavour. The wings themselves were well cooked and easy to suck off the bone. I’ve never been a big fan of onion rings, but these were actually pretty good.

My son and I like cheeseburgers with seared yet juicy smashed meat patties…and not a lot else. That’s what we asked for and that’s what they made us, and boy-o-boy where they gooooood. I had a bite of the GT Shroom & Swiss and the GT Bacon (beef of course) but I felt, like a good steak, if a burger is fundamentally good, it doesn’t need anything else on it. I liked our simple cheeseburger the best.

Their chicken burger, called the GT Slaw Chicken, is very, very good (yes, I had a bite of that too) and definitely worth ordering if you’re not into meat. Their hot-dogs are insane, if a little over-sauced (I would ask for less sauce). And then there are the sinfully good milkshakes, I especially liked the Lotus followed by the Peanut Butter Shake – OMG!
GT Dog Yeah, I didn’t leave much of that ‘dog Delicious brownie with ice cream and caramel sauce We were offered a 10% group discount but otherwise paid in FULL for our meal.
Service was very friendly and accommodating. There are a lot of burger joints in Dubai (Ugly Burger is right around the corner). GT Burger is going to have its work cut out if it is to carve out a name for itself. I certainly think it has what it takes – a cracking recipe, top quality ingredients, delicious burger and hot-dogs, milkshakes so sinfully good you’d think they’ve come straight from the hand of Eve, eco-friendly delivery packaging and super competitive prices – all they now need is a little kiss from lady luck.
