Max’s All About Chicken is a home-grown chain of fast-food restaurants which, according to their marketing blurb, specialises in 24-hour marinated, char-grilled and fried chicken. The brand, conceptualised by Foodmark in Dubai and Max’s Group Inc. in the Philippines, has doubled its number of branches in Dubai to four, including the one I ordered from in MOE and the delivery kitchen in Mankhool. Max’s is one of the most popular chicken chains in the Philippines and interestingly doesn’t batter its chicken before frying it; basically, leaving the skin to form a natural crunchy outer shell. It’s either that or char-grilled Inasal style.
This is how it arrives …and what it looks like inside The bread buns The bucket with salad on the side and red sauce on top There are EIGHT pieces of chicken in there… Crispy skin…
I ordered Max’s (fried) Chicken Bucket which at AED54 is insane value. It comes with two sides of rice (Filipinos love to eat their fried chicken with rice), two bread buns and two fries (I only received one). Drinks are extra. Although we’re talking about some pretty small birds, that’s still crazy value. It took longer than expected for my chicken to get from MOE to the Ranches but, all credit to them, my food was still hot. I’ve never been a big fan of Max’s fried chicken, always finding it too dry – until now. Sure, battered fried and char-grilled chicken offer more intense taste but this form of fried chicken was not just decent, it allowed me to tick all my diet buttons too. I found the chicken juicy and quite palatable, especially when dipped into the special red sauce it comes with. Worth a try.
