Asian Wok is a home-grown Asian food franchise with branches in JLT, DCC and this one in the Ski Dubai end food court of MOE where my home delivery originated from. It was an advert I saw somewhere which promised authentic Laksa that first caught my eye. There are not a lot of places in Dubai which serve authentic Laksa, so I gave them try – Laksa Noodle Soup, Cantonese Style Crispy Noodles and Kimchi Fried Rice.
The Cantonese Noodles sauce Inside the bag Unpacked Everything is well packed and environmentally friendly The “fried” noodles looked just like Maggie noodles…fried. …just look at them
Thankfully the laksa comes with the soup and noodles/condiments separate. You only mix them when you’re ready to eat so the noodles aren’t mushy. Alright, this isn’t remotely authentic but is isn’t bad either. I liked this laksa much more than the one I ordered from Go! Noodle – Big & Slurpy! The Cantonese noodles promised much but were let down by the noodles which looked like fried Maggie noodles. The kimchi fried rice was like stout, an acquired taste, but one which I liked a lot. It’s a little dry to have on its own. I mixed in a little of the Cantonese noodle sauce and it was much better.
The laksa when mixed….it’s got a good kick to it Kimchi fried rice is…interesting The Cantonese noodles were sour in addition to the noodles being like Maggie noodles
Asian Wok reminded me very much of a B version of Zen. That said, I definitely preferred them to Nom Nom Asian. Would I order from them again? Why? When there’s Zen, why?
