Nom Nom Asia is an Indian Asian restaurant franchise which I’ve wanted to like from the minute I met the (then) owner, Vivek Balaney, at his first outlet in Karama (now permanently closed). The food I ate there was amazing but never replicated at their second outlet in Barsha. And then I discovered Zen and didn’t look back…till, hello hello, I found that NNA had opened a delivery kitchen in Motor City – I simply had to give them another try. So, here’s what I ordered: Mixed Chowmein, Sweet and Sour Chicken and Wok Tossed Nom Nom Jasmine Mixed Fried Rice, all things my daughter likes.
Sweet and Sour Chicken Wok Tossed Nom Nom Jasmine Mixed Fried Rice Mixed Chowmein
You know, with Din Tai Fung delivering from Motor City as well, Asian restaurants there really need to up their game and sadly NNA doesn’t even come close. It’s still too similar to Barsha and not anything like the amazing food they used to serve in Karama. The sweet and sour chicken was almost like a dessert. The rice was absolutely saltless/tasteless – bland. Even the chowmein, which I loved for wok-seared taste it had before, was spoilt by an overwhelming taste of vinegar. Somethings simply aren’t meant to be, and for me NNA must be one of them. So, if you’re looking to order a good Asian meal – consider other options…of the Din Tai Fung kind.
