Happy Days! Our family favourite Chinese restaurant, Din Tai Fung, has opened a branch, be it in kitchen only form, in Motor City. And before anyone starts yelling foul, I know it’s Taiwanese owned BUT, in my defence, the food it serves is Chinese. I think no one is happier about this than our daughter, easily their biggest fan. All the classics are available although I do not recommend ordering their famous Xiaolongbao soup dumplings as they have arrived dried out on the two occasions we ordered them. The rest of the dumplings and buns are OK though.
Fired rice Chow mein The soup won tons come seperately This is how it arrives Mixing rice with the Szechuan sauce And this is what we do with the left over Szechuan sauce Heavenly…chicken noodle soup Szechuan dumplings
A typical order of ours will comprise of Chicken & Vegetable Won Ton Soup, Szechuan Shrimp & Chicken Wontons, Chicken Chow Mein, Sautéed Lettuce or Spinach, Chicken Egg Fried Rice and a Crispy Beef if our son is over. As is obvious, our daughter is big on chicken and carbs. Believe it or not, we order the very same thing at least once, sometimes twice a week. Din Tai Fung is loved by all in this household except my wallet. That order will leave you little change from AED250 – ouch! But it’s the best Chinese in Dubai and the fact that you can enjoy it in the comfort of your home makes it all the better. Highly recommended.

Good news! FINALLY we can eat Din Tai Fung without queuing in MoE. I would not be willing to queue up 40+ minutes … that was ridiculous!
