SAID Dal 1923 is a quaint little Italian (not British) café in City Walk 2. Its interior is handsomely decorated and has a laidback, unpretentious, cosy ambiance. My friend Nader and I went there for a quick coffee and ended up spending a few hours there chatting. The length of time we spent there was in no way influenced by the pretty café manager. I was disappointed to see such few people there…it’s much the same in most of the City Walk outlets.

Although SAID has a full food menu, most go there for its coffee, specifically the three-chocolate cappuccino (see picture) which is absolutely orgasmic. But at AED45 it’s also heinously expensive – that’s nudging £10 for a cup of coffee – unbelievable! The special mocha was similarly priced. Still water = AED29! No wonder the place was empty. Thankfully service was very good and somewhat made up for the excessive pricing. Worth a visit…if you’ve just won the lottery.
