My family and I love fried chicken. Disillusioned with the recent inconsistency of our favourite, KFC in Motor City, we have started trying new places. And wow! there’s a lot of choice out there, not least The Boutique Kitchen; a hugely popular delivery kitchen in Al Quoz which we have zoomed in on lately. Off the bat let me tell you what its main weakness is – perhaps because it’s so popular – it halts deliveries at peak times…as we have experienced on two occasions, much to the disappointment of my daughter. But when we are able to get an order through, delivery is on time and food arrives well packed and hot.
We’ve ordered either the 8 or 16-piece Southern Fried Chicken Family Meal which comes with excellent fries and potato salad or coleslaw (we choose coleslaw). The fact that it costs nearly double most mainstream fried chicken restaurants, most notably KFC, should not be a put off because it really does make up for the price in terms of quality; begging the question – is it really twice as good? Yes, it is. This is almost like gourmet fried chicken. Note that fried chicken is just one of the items on their American themed menu. Our new adventure will be to try out their restaurant, TBK, at The Galleria on Al Wasl Road in Al Safa. Watch this space.
