Lahori Chatkhara is a Pakistani restaurant in Karama. Décor wise it leans more towards family orientated Nirala in Barsha than say, the more macho Pak or Karachi Darbars. That said, it’s not quite as upmarket as Lal Qila Mumtaz, also in Barsha. Unique for this type of restaurant were the floor seating cubicles they had on the first floor where, incidentally, the ac seems to work better. Also interesting was that they had a chaat corner downstairs (4pm onwards). Which begs the question, is there a difference between Indian and Pakistani chaat?
It was not chaat but the promise of some of the best Lahori food we were there for. We ordered the Lamb Shinwari Kadai and their signature Special Desi Murg Kadai in Desi Ghee on recommendation of our waiter. To them we added Palak Paneer, Daal Makhani and the most amazing Mutton Bombay Biriyani I have had in a long time. We also ordered a couple of naans and an amazing in-house made salty lassi. The food (and bev) at Lahori Chatkhara was simply delightful. If there was an iffy dish it was the Shinwari; it uses fatty pieces of lamb which may not be to everyone’s liking. We loved it. I recommend it. And the chicken too. Also the biryani.

I found the staff friendly and accommodating, especially the headwaiter/cashier who helped me with my order. Although modest in design, Lahori Chatkhara is a restaurant you can bring the entire family to. In addition to it being clean cut and respectable I found prices quite reasonable too. Our meal for three came to just under 230 Dirhams and we ordered quite a few dishes. Most important though was that everyone enjoyed the food making this restaurant well worth a visit.
