Fuchsia – Business Bay

This Fuchsia branch in Business Bay is the second of two outlets, the first and original being in Barsha Heights. Located an easy escalator ride up to the plaza level of Building 04 in Bay Square, its interior is a mash-up of Wagamama and More Café with a splash of hot pink, reddish-purple or simply fuchsia. It’s an instantly comfortable environment in-which one feels equally at home in with shorts or a suit. And there’s a pink ping pong table – how gross is that?

The food at Fuchsia is a sedated, toned-down version of Thai, something appealing to all but the most diehard, hardcore, authentic Thai enthusiasts. Their Pad Thai, for example, is on the sweet side but it’s a decent Pad Thai (especially when you spicy it up). I found the green curry perhaps a little too mild but that didn’t stop us from polishing off every last drop. I think what was most intriguing was their Thai Burger which reminded me of a similar offering from Asian 5 – both have successfully infused an Asian zing to their burgers. They’re worth a try if you’re a burger person. At 69 Dirhams their business lunch is a fantastic proposition. It offers a starter, main and dessert.

Service at Fuchsia was top class. We were looked after by a young Filipino by the name of John who was simply amazing (thanks John). Some of the best, five-star Thai restaurants are located in Business Bay, Tong Thai at the JW Marriott Marquis being one of them. But affordable Thai? With Zen in the process of relocating, there’s not a lot out there. Which makes Fuchsia all the more attractive. Worth a visit. Try the business lunch.
