This Applebee’s branch is far better than the one near the Trade Center. Located next door to its main competitor TGIF in Festival City, it’s very well designed yet strikingly similar to the American Rat Pack, Chili’s, TGIF, IHOP, etc. It’s perfect for a reasonably priced meal with friends and/or family, especially if you have Entertainer.
Jackson prepping for his giant burger
The Applebee’s menu offers typical American fare, burgers, ribs, a little Tex, a little Mex, a little surf, a little turf and a zillion calorie desserts. Portion sizes are large although they aren’t quite as grotesquely humongous as in the US (and maybe that’s a good thing). You wouldn’t agree with that last statement of mine if you saw their Cowboy Burger which literally dwarfs giants from Blaze and Fuddruckers. You need hinges on your jaw to bite into this bad boy. I could have made an interesting vlog of my Chinese food buddy Jackson eating his. I ordered their more respectably sized Beef Ribs, which incidentally was really good. Jackson’s Happy Buddha face confirmed that he had enjoyed his burger too.
Giant Burger! Beef Ribs
Service was excellent, the all Filipino staff were friendly and super accommodating. I found this branch in a different league to the one at the Trade Center; the interior, staff and more importantly, the food were all miles better. Is it better than TGIF next door? I think they’re about the same, both worth a visit. If you’re prepared to spend a little more however, you might also want to consider California Pizza Kitchen. All have Entertainer options.
