Biryaniwalla & Co is a newly opened, authentic Hyderabadi food specialist restaurant. Located beside Ravi’s in Al Nahda 2, it is owned and managed by dashing Tollywood star, Reza Ashtarian; when he’s not shooting movies, this is where he hangs out. This is Biryaniwalla & Co’s first branch outside India and one of three planned for Dubai. The handsomely-decorated restaurant is split in two, one for dining and the other for takeaways.

Hyderabadis know a thing or two about biryani and these boys do not disappoint, their signature Mutton Biryani is one of the best I have had outside India. The fact that it is so economically priced simply makes it all the yummier, especially the good-for-two Mini Mutton Biryani option at AED14. But biryani is not all Biryaniwalla & Co is about, try their amazing kababs, especially the chef’s special, Zaffarani Irani Jujeh Kabab, or the lightly-spiced, melt in the mouth, cooked-on stone, Pathar-ka-Gosht; a dish I don’t think many other restaurants in Dubai offer – it’s amazing. Also for the first time, I tried a tangy starter called Chicken 65 – very nice. If you visit in the evening, consider their rotisserie chicken – I’m told it’s to die for.

With chefs and much of the staff flown in from India, Biryaniwalla & Co has kicked off to a great start (their kitchen is certainly firing on all cylinders). Service, although friendly and accommodating, understandably needs time to settle. Not since I visited Sthan earlier in the year have I been so impressed by a newcomer. This is a restaurant well worth a detour. I’m going back for sure.

lousy restaurant spoil mood – when visit once n found a place some guy came n ask to wait outside, even after giving the order, saying others were waiting. no respect for customers. totally bakwas n bullshit. tollywood or Bollywood this is Dubai n no shortage of superior restaurants and service. two three complaints from municipality n will close down or put fines in future.
