Max’s Restaurant beside the Al Ghurair Centre behind Al Rigga road is one of the most famous Filipino fried chicken franchises in Dubai. Well, I went there yesterday and was served possibly the WORST fried chicken I have had in my life. From the minute the scrawny, dried out half chicken was placed in front of me, with all of six or seven sweet potato fries, I knew something was wrong.

My smiley waiter made a concoction of the three sauces on the table and informed me that their chicken did not come with gravy; the way Filipinos ate it was with this sauce cocktail. The brown meat was easy enough to swallow unassisted, but the chicken breast was bone dry and needed sauce and a gulp of water to wash down.

Nightmare! I am so disappointed. In addition to the lovely Christmas carols, the only other good thing about my visit to Max’s was the sympathetic ear and offer for a refund I received from pretty supervisor, Manel Garcia. Although I should have taken the refund, that’s just not the way I roll. Anyway, in the future, if you want amazing Filipino chicken, try Oks Manoks in Karama.
