Swaad is a hard to find Gujarati restaurant near the Juba Hotel (behind the Royal Diamond Building) in Al Ras. Known primarily for the value for money thalis it serves, Swaad also offers a decent South Indian breakfast, which is why my friend and I spent a mouse-in-a-maze half hour searching for the place. The restaurant is not fancy but it’s clean and well kept – decent. We ordered Idli (they were out of Vada) followed by Masala Dosa. This is one of the only places which served us fresh, hot Idlis straight out of the steamer with some delicious Sambar – Yum! Their Masala Dosa and Chana with pooris were really good too, but not as good as the Idlis. Service is friendly and fast. If you’re in the area and craving a decent South Indian breakfast, Swaad is worth a visit. And I hear their thalis are pretty good too.
