Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen is an American KFC wannabe. My family and I, regardless of which diet any one of us may be following at any given time, will not (ever) say no to fried chicken, especially if it’s KFC. I know that’s kinda weird (some call it gross) but that’s just the way we roll. And our Filipina housekeeper doesn’t mind one little bit. So, it was to this KFC loyalist home that we ordered Popeyes via the Zomato app on my phone.
I read that one reviewer’s order actually arrived ahead of the specified time. Make that two, it happened to us too. And our food arrived piping hot and still crunchy. I think I still prefer KFC Spicy more than the Popeyes equivalent, which I felt was a little bland. Where Popeyes slam-dunked KFC was with their fries and coleslaw, both of which were really, really good, particularly the slaw. The scones (as opposed to KFC’s buns) were a nice touch.
Verdict? Close, really close. I’m going to order simultaneously from both to back-to-back compare them. Till then…I’ll flip a coin.
