Verdura is billed as a Mediterranean restaurant yet I found it distinctly Middle Eastern. This is a restaurant I chose based on its super high Zomato rating; 4+ is not a fluke by any standards. Based in the new metro link of the Persia Court in Ibn Battuta Mall, the interior of Verdura is tastefully decorated and includes glass-enclosed kitchen starting at the entrance of the restaurant. The other reason I singled out Verdura was because the Iftar it offers is NOT a buffet – it’s a generous set menu which changes every day.
The minute the first dish is placed in front of you, you know there is something different about this restaurant, something special; presentation is fine dining quality. Iftar is a hearty affair with a choice of two soups (I chose the delicious Harissa soup over an equally good Lentil soup) after which one of each item on the menu is brought to the table. The food was excellent, particularly the grilled salmon. I also liked the Shish Tawook Grilled Chicken, which was the best part of a slightly disappointing mixed grill.
Service too is excellent – friendly, accommodating and fast. This restaurant is well worth a visit, for Iftar or à la carte.
Waste NOT. Want NOT.
