Chili’s is a US Tex-Mex franchise which – happy birthday to you – has just turned 21 in the UAE (it opened its first branch in Garhoud in May 1997). This DFC branch is one of the newer ones. It’s also one of the bigger/est ones too. Unmistakably US franchise in its interior design, if it weren’t for the Chili’s logos everywhere, it could be Applebee’s or Friday’s, or IHOP, or…
The Chili’s menu is crammed with favourites such as Beef Ribs, Sizzling Fajitas and Boneless Buffalo Wings. We ordered a Mixed Sizzling Fajita, the meat and chicken of which is served on a hot plate covered in melted cheese, with tortillas, guacamole, salsa and sour cream on the side – not exactly the best way to kick off my new diet. But damn, it’s good. We also ordered a Chicken Caesar Salad assuming this would balance the ‘healthy’ scale. Smothered in a rich, creamy Caesar-mayo sauce, it probably had MORE calories than the fajita. That’s American food for you.
Service was friendly, smiley, have-a-nice-day with a Filipino twist. No complaints there. So if you’re hungry for an XL meal with XL flavours, Chili’s is most definitely a worthy option.
Waste NOT. Want NOT.
