There used to be a time when we had very little to choose from where eating out was concerned in Motor City and Arabian Ranches. Not anymore, particularly in Motor City where restaurants have been popping up like mushrooms in a damp marshland. Located next door to B&B Cricket Bar (Bandoo Khan) on the Arabian Ranches end of Uptown Motor City, the two restaurants double the Pakistani culinary representation in the area. Of course, Barbeque Delights also represents Afghan cuisine, as well as Indian street food. Adorned with a spectacular display of South Asian truck art, the entrance of the restaurant is hard to miss. It reminded me of Truck Adda.
The interior is modern, leaving much (but not all) of the colourful, elaborate floral patterns and calligraphy outside. There is a welcome chaat counter on the left of the restaurant, something I have not see much of in Pakistani establishments.
The food at Barbeque Delights is good across the franchise, this branch included. I ordered a portion of Pani Puri out of curiosity.
The Pakistani version, commonly known as Golgappa, is tangier than the Indian version but no less delicious. We also ordered a Mutton Biryani, Bhindi Do Pyaza, Fish Tikka and Chicken Karahi.
There was a little confusion over the daal we originally ordered; we thought we had ordered Daal Makhani, something surprisingly they don’t have. So, we sent it back with an audible grr. The Biryani, Karahi and Bhindi were very good. I didn’t think much of the Tikka. We ended our meal with a couple of Gulab Jamuns and a complimentary bowl of Kheer. Nice.
Service is very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant delivers throughout the Arabian Ranches and Motor City area, and I can vouch for the speed of their delivery having ordered from them a couple of weeks ago. Recommended. Worth a visit and/or a home delivery.
Waste NOT. Want NOT.
