Global Fusion is the Pan-Asian version of Barbecue Nation, AB’s and (most recently) Hot Palayok. And, it’s as big and grand as anything we have in Dubai. Indians seem to love these VFM buffet concepts making such restaurants hugely popular throughout India. I was taken to Global Fusion by an Indian friend who lives with me in Dubai. He was like, brag all you like about Dubai, but we do things on a different scale here in India. And bloody hell, he was right. The sheer size of this Times Square Tech Park branch in Marol was breath-taking. Really impressive was the how well designed and maintained the whole operation was.
The food is an amalgamation of all things Pan-Asian, from sushi to stir-fries, with the odd curry thrown-in for good measure. Now multiply everything by two, because for every veg version there has to be a non-veg version. For me, size and volume are not nearly as impressive as quality and that’s really where these guys excel. Firstly, many of the mains are freshly stir-fried at live cooking stations.
Can you imagine the speed at which these guys need to work? The consistency they need to maintain? It’s fantastic. And what they serve you is really, really good. Secondly, I found their chaffing dishes constantly being checked, topped up and/or changed. I was told that this was so the food inside does not dry out. Amazing.
Service was Indian hospitality in top form; warm, genuine, accommodating and Speedy Gonzalez fast. Good choice, Naresh.
Waste NOT. Want NOT.
