It’s hard to believe Chopstix is an award-winning restaurant. It’s lunchtime, and there’s absolutely no one here. Except Xerxes, a couple of very smiley staff members, and a pair of the world’s largest chopsticks. This is an unashamedly Indian Chinese restaurant, where even the chef is not Nepalese, he’s Indian. That said, these guys actually cater to groups of Chinese tourists. Now that may in some way be due to their location, but I’m assuming it’s more than their geography which won them two What’s On awards on the trot; 2012 and 2013 as “Favourite Chinese Restaurant (Below 400)”. So why are they empty? Hmm.
I have only had one single dish at Chopstix, Singapore Noodles, hardly representative of the restaurant. But I’ll tell you this, it was really good, and better than anything similar I have had recently. Their Nepali waiter told me that the momos are really good too; something to try on my next visit.
Service is…hard to mess up when there’s only one customer and three staff. Let’s just say that I was thoroughly pampered. So, I’m going to go and do the unthinkable; I’m going to recommend this restaurant based on the one dish I had. Yup, I think it showed enough potential. And just to show I believe what I write, I am going to go back myself.
Waste NOT. Want NOT.
