Butcha is an amazing steakhouse and butchery franchise from Turkey. It’s the closest you will get to Nusr-Et, but without the attitude, pretension, snobbery, and also without having to take a second mortgage on your house. I’m pretty sure this branch at The Piazza, in the middle section of The Beach in JBR was the first and original Buctha branch. It’s an expansive, handsomely decorated outlet covering two floors, as well as an outdoor seating area hugely popular at this time of year. If you’ve been to The Beach, you’ll have walked passed it for sure – it’s the one with a statue of a full size, painted cow outside.
Although not clearly marked on the menu, there are two ways to go at Butcha, Turkish or International. Turkish delights (forgive the pun) include classics such as skewered Shaslik, Lamb Chops, Whole Rack of Lamb, down to the basic yet delicious Kofte – all prepared with a special blend of Turkish spices. The International section includes an assortment of steaks, from Ribeye to Tomahawk. Butcha source their meat from Australia and the US. They also offer a selection of seafood and poultry for those, like my better half, who do not indulge in pleasures of the…um, flesh.
My daughter and I ordered their 350g US Ribeye, hers medium and mine a perfect medium rare. My kids and I are steak lovers and have been to most of the steakhouses in Dubai. We also make a point of visiting at least one steakhouse wherever we travel. This was, without a doubt, right up there with the best of them.
My son ordered their 8-hour beef ribs which come with a barbeque sauce, which he wisely asked them to go easy with. It was amazing, but the steaks were better, much better.
The surprise of the meal was the Peri Peri Chicken my wife ordered; in addition to being a whole bird, it was far better than she expected.
If there is one thing at Butcha more delicious than their steaks, it is their service. Like Turkish hospitality, it’s warm and infinitely accommodating, yet it’s also professional and efficient. My special thanks to the amazing Fatih, whose friendly manner and attentiveness made our meal even more special. Owner Osman Sungur and his UAE team can be proud of this branch, it truly is excellent and in my mind, well worth a detour.
