There are not one but two ChowKing restaurants in Satwa; one opposite the Iranian Hospital, and this one, just off Satwa roundabout, opposite the Al Hanaa Centre.
ChowKing is a Pilipino chain of Asian fast food restaurants. It’s owned by the same group which owns Jollibee. And with that useful bit of information behind us, we can move on to the fact that ChowKing also serves breakfast, which is what I was there to have.
Among the many unique Filipino breakfast dishes ChowKing serves, from Tapsilog and Dasilog to Meatball Congee, my all-time favourite is their breakfast Lomi. Lomi or Pancit Lomi is a must-try Filipino chicken noodle soup, the ultimate comfort food. Their coffee, however, is absolutely rubbish, tasting like cheap, instant coffee with creamer.
Service is typically Filipino, warm and friendly, and prices are ridiculously reasonable, making ChowKing a tempting proposition for breakfast.
