I imagine Sukh Sagar Swift is something of an embarrassment to the Sukh Sagar franchise. Let’s face it, a two-point-something rating on Zomato is anything but praiseworthy.
From the modern, trendy restaurant layout however, one would be excused for thinking this is a cool place to enjoy Indian fast food and snacks. Located at ground level of the Almas Tower, it’s also one of only a handful of places serving Dosa in JLT.
But don’t let any of that fool you, the food at Sukh Sagar Swift is not reflective of the Sukh Sagar franchise. In fact, it’s pretty damn awful. One reason is that the restaurant is obviously badly managed. My family and I got there close to 10 am on a Saturday only to find that their potatoes weren’t ready. Really? One nightmare consequence was that we all had our Dosas without Masala. Beyond that issue, the Sambar was watered-down, and missing any form of vegetable. The Onion Rava Dosa I ordered was limp, saltless, tasteless. But the worst of the bunch was their Chole Channa Masala (served with equally disappointing pooris) – Booo!
Service was good. But even that did not make up for the food. I’ve been to both Sukh Sagars, in Karama and the one they’ve now closed in JBR. The one in JBR was excellent. Sadly this is not in the same league, not even close – especially if you’re looking for a South Indian breakfast. Most definitely consider other options.
Waste NOT. Want NOT.
