Chongqing Noodle House is an authentic Chinese restaurant in International City, Dubai’s unofficial China Town. Located on the main road of building F15 of China Cluster, the restaurant specializes in Chongqing cuisine, fiery hot noodles and the best wontons this side of Din Tai Fung. Chongqing is very much a simple, unpretentious, family-run eatery where the entire family gets involved. And this, more than anything, is where it gets much of its humble, modest character.
The delicious, in-house made noodles are the centrepiece of Chongqing. The noodles are served as part of a soup, or dry with sauce. The most famous of the noodle dishes is the most basic, vegetable noodles. Unless you are used to super spicy, order your noodles mild – their peanut and chilli base sauce is very, very HOT indeed. I ordered my noodles mild and struggled (and hey! some believe I suckled off the devil’s teat as an infant). Of course, you can order your noodles without any heat whatsoever but come on, where’s the fun in that?
I also recommend the soup noodles, of which both chicken and beef are available.
As a starter try the amazing Egg Tofu (made with jellified, preserved egg) or the (chilled) Chicken Cucumber – they’re both very unique, and delicious. We had both PLUS a portion of their freshly made Wontons (pronounced Wuntuns) – Yummy!
Service is friendly and fast. The staff are English-speaking (a rarity among the authentic restaurants of China Cluster). If you are looking for authentic Chongqing style noodles and wontons, or simply for amazing noodles, look no further than this hidden gem of a noodle house in China Cluster, International City. Well worth a visit.
