Pushkin is a small Russian restaurant located at the base of Lake View Tower, Cluster B, JLT. Its interior looks more like Del Boy’s office than a restaurant; with cartons and boxes (of suspect origin) stacked in the corners, and behind the cash counter…which was really an office desk. And what about that chandelier?
The food is authentic and very good. I visited them for lunch and tried their lunch combo, which changes daily. But I got to sample their Beef Stroganoff, Olivier salad, Borsch, and beef stuffed Pelmeni (dumplings) – all delicious.
We were attended to by a pretty Russian girl (incentive enough to go back) who only really started smiling when my long-time food buddy, Ashwani, started speaking to her in his flawless Russian. Our food was brought to us within 15-minutes of ordering.
I really enjoyed Pushkin, it’s an unpretentious eatery, worth a try. That said, I don’t think I’d bring guests here, only fools and horses…
