I was not expecting Kaffe Bloom to be so much fun. Yes, the company I was in was probably the main reason for our afternoon giggle-fest AND I’m sure the big box of fresh uni (the sex organ of sea urchins – video) we had eaten our way through also contributed, but so did Kaffe Bloom’s laid-back ambiance and friendly staff. This unassuming café-in-a-shop is best described as a melting pot of East meets West; understandable when that shop is 1004 Gourmet, Dubai’s leading Asian speciality supermarket (importer and distributor) in the Onyx Tower in The Greens.

Almost everything on the Kaffe Bloom menu is sourced from the supermarket which means it’s fresh, fresh, fresh. Additionally, one can also consume any of the ready to eat meals at the café. Standouts for me were the Beef Bulgogi Bibimbap, Kimchi Tuna Melt and the Bulgogi Sandwich – yuummm! And if you’ve picked up on the Korean twist, it’s because the owners are Korean. Not hungry? Kaffe Bloom is one of those chill places where you can open up your notebook, kick off your sandals and enjoy the morning or afternoon with a cup of conventional or hand drip coffee, bubble tea or Houjicha. It is the quintessential hidden gem and well worth a visit.
