I’ve been a big fan of Yalla Momos since I first visited their teeny-weeny original branch in Karama many, many years ago. Funnily enough, much as I liked the place, I’ve not been back since that first time. But, as the saying goes, I’ve always wanted to. Fast forward to the present day and I was pleasantly surprised to find their delivery kitchen in Barsha pop up on my radar. I simply had to give them another try so I ordered their Non-Veg Platter, hitting the Afghani option as choice of platter, more out of confusion than want. I also ordered noodles, specifically – Spicy, Dry Masala Maggi [Indian] and Spicy, Soupy Wai Wai [Himalayan].

I though the Afghani option would give me a couple of these meat filled momos not a whole platter full; nice as the first two or three were, the rest turned out to be a struggle to eat, not least because there was no variety. The three sauces which came with the momos did nothing to ‘ease the pain’, so to speak. Nor did the soupy Wai Wai noodles, which were chilli hot but tasteless. It wasn’t until I mixed-in the masala noodles did it all start coming together, be it as quite a messy solution, but one which reminded me of my days as a bachelor. Speaking of messy, the state in which my order arrived was nothing less than a mess either.






None of this was how I imagined my order from Yalla Momos would be…
