Billy Boy Burgers is a London-inspired Dubai-homegrown delivery only burger kitchen in Al Quoz. There are dozens of such “delivery only” start-ups popping up these days and, while there’s no doubting that they offer variety, I feel they are eroding if not distorting the “dining experience”. Point made; I ordered a Soho Burger from their signature collection. It’s basically a double patty cheeseburger with caramelized onions and Korean chili sauce. Billy burgers are on the smaller side, not dissimilar in size to In-N-Out burgers. Their soft potato bun seemed fresh and was a treat to bite into yet, while their marketing blurb says, “we make everything from scratch, using only the finest ingredients”, the rest of the burger could have been from Wendy’s. Nothing wrong with that, mind you, it just didn’t strike me as the most personalised burger in the world. At just under AED50, it’s not the cheapest either. For me, not bad doesn’t hack it these days; for the money I’ll go for GBK or BurgerFuel instead.
