Desi Wings is a budding delivery-only franchise of kitchens serving Indian inspired baked-not-fried chicken wings. I should say ‘aspiring’ franchise as there are currently only two outlets, Oud Metha and the one in Barsha which sent us our order. My foodie buddies and I taste-tested two variants, Chacha Sriracha and Peri-Peri Kaeri, against a group of wings specialists as part of our weekly lunch meet up @streetery food hall in JLT. The competition included @blacktapdubai, @kpopchickenuae and @ericsuae of Karama to name a few. I liked the fact that Desi’s wings were baked-not-fried BUT, and this could be a deal-breaker for some (not for me), they were NOT crispy. Of the two sauce flavours, it was the mango infused Peri-Peri which our group liked the most. My one gripe, their use of non-biodegradable polystyrene containers – boo! Once they switch to something more environmentally friendly, I will definitely order from them again.
