My first experience at MTR 1924 did not go well. I remember being disappointed with everything but their filter coffee. That was back in July of 2015 and at their original Mankhool branch when it was still a novelty. Well, it’s taken the lure of this new branch in Karama to get me back. And immediately I am impressed, this new incarnation is clean-cut and handsomely decorated and definitely a place to bring family and friends to.

I order an idli-vada dip to start. Delivery is so fast my sambar is all over the lip of my bowl but it’s both piping and chili hot and seriously yum. My masala dosa arrives halfway through. It looks browner than it should but thankfully, it’s not as oily as I remember from my first experience. It’s thicker too. But all and all, I’m happier with this meal than with the first. And then there’s that amazing filter coffee – Oof! Service is super friendly and Speedy Gonzalez fast. Worth a visit.
