Yalumba, at the venerable Le Méridien airport, is famous for Brunchology, an OTT brunch party which made a lot of noise when it was first launched (more than) a couple of years ago. I think the restaurant, which takes its name from the South Australian wine region, should also be acknowledged for its excellent breakfast buffet, which I had the pleasure of being invited to by a transiting friend.

At AED129 per person, the breakfast buffet at Yalumba offers quality and value few others can match. Of course, there are live cooking stations, including an egg station where you can get your eggs done however you wish. There’s an impressive pork section and a huge array of fresh bread, salads, cereals…International, Indian, Asian…hot, cold…it goes on and on…very Dubai. Also noteworthy is their coffee.

Service is pure 5-star Le Méridien. So, if you’re in the Garhoud area and looking for a venue for a morning breakfast meeting which doesn’t need the distraction of a view, this is the place to come to, hands down. Bring view into the equation and I’ll tip my hat in the direction of Brasserie du Park at the Park Hyatt. But trust me, this old school buffet opposite the airport offers one of the best breakfasts in town.
