It’s hard to believe this Eric’s on SZR is a branch of the same Eric’s in Karama I so enjoy going to. OMG the curries were atrocious, starting with the Beef Vindaloo which – congratulations Eric’s – turned out to be the worst vindaloo I have had in my life. Guys! What is going on here? The Goan Prawn Curry came with a gravy so watery, everyone at our table of three commented on it. Thankfully, the rest of our meal wasn’t quite so bad. In fact, the Pan Fried Pomfret was almost as good as what I had at Kovalam a week or two ago. The potato chops and bhindi masala were okay, nothing special, nothing like the original Eric’s.

What saved a little grace and face for Eric’s was the service. Our table was attended to by a young Bombaywalla from Chennai by the name of Augustine, who went out of his way to make us comfortable and to appease our disappointment after he saw how upset we were with the curries. In fact, he offered to change the curries altogether – at no extra costs. He did this not knowing any of us were bloggers. Well, at least Eric’s has got good people on board. But foodwise the experience was a nightmare. It goes without saying that I won’t be going back. Much as I liked the original, I cannot recommend this restaurant. Consider other options.
