Tibbs Frankie is a famous Indian snack and fast food franchise which opened its doors to Dubai though this small lake level outlet in the O2 Residence of Cluster O, JLT two or three years ago. There is another outlet in Meena Bazaar. I’m not sure which outlet came first. It certainly wasn’t the DIFC branch which is now closed for some reason. This JLT branch is owned and run by an enterprising Indian lady whose feminine touch is evident in the tidiness and cleanliness of the outlet but not the design, which is something of a nightmare. Like many lake level outlets in JLT, the ventilators do a poor job of extraction and as a consequence there is a clear smell of spice and smoke in the restaurant which, be forewarned, you will take with you.
For the non-Indian, a Frankie is the Indian version of a burrito. And the Tibbs franchise has taken the Frankie to a whole different level, stuffing it with all sorts of fillings, including curries. If you like burritos, shawarmas and/or doner kebabs, there is a good chance you will like Frankies. My friend and I ordered a Classic Chicken and the Tibbs Special Non-Veg, which is also chicken based. Both were far better than I expected. I have little doubt the rest of the menu, which obviously also caters for vegetarians, is equally good. Dine in service, although limited to ordering at the counter, is friendly and fast. I really liked this little place. That said, I’ll order a home delivery next time to avoid smelling like a curry house when I leave the restaurant.
