Spicy & Ginger is a relatively recently opened Thai restaurant at the Al Wasl Sports Complex along the Dubai-Al Ain Road in Za’abeel. Its high ratings are NOT a true reflection of the quality or authenticity of its food. This is nothing remotely close to Zen, The Royal Budha or even Smiling BKK. The 3.0 I’m giving it is possibly 0.5 less than what it deserves. I say this, yet its high-ceilinged interior is pleasantly decorated and blissfully cool and comfortable. Note, it is a big of a struggle to get to, keep Waze or Google Maps on.

I kept my order simple and mainstream, Papaya Salad to start followed by a Green Curry with Chicken and Pad Thai with Prawns. Plain sticky rice was 8.5 Dirham extra. I found both the papaya salad and pad Thai too sweet, and the green curry watery and bland. At least they made them all as spicy as I asked (and I have the blisters on my lips to show for it – kidding). All in all, an average showing and nowhere near the raving reviews some of my fellow bloggers and reviewers have left. Service however was good.
