Nutri Bowl is a relatively new little restaurant in Dubai Studio City which specialises in both poke style health food in a bowl as well as Vietnamese Gỏi cuốn style cold rolls. I am trying all the poke restaurants in the Arabian Ranches area and thought it would be a good idea to include Nutri Bowl as well. The first mistake I made was to assume tuna at Nutri Bowl meant the same thing as tuna at any of the poke restaurants – it doesn’t. Tuna at the poke restaurants, unless otherwise stated, is fresh, raw tuna whereas tuna at Nutri Bowl comes out of a can. Boo!
Nutri Bowl meals come delivered in this… …which look like this on the inside Well sealed Inside Ginger soy sauce Canned tuna
My expensive canned tuna build-a-Nutri bowl arrived in about 40 minutes. Everything inside was still crisp and cool. I like the fact that these guys use brown paper bags and bowls (but still plastic cutlery). Portion size of the large I ordered was not generous in the same way Cali Poke in Al Barari is with their bowls, but it was filling, nonetheless. I liked the combination I “built”; quinoa base, (canned) tuna, kale leaves, edamame, broccoli and corn among other things. The ginger soy sauce was nice too. Of course, I added some chili. Nice. The canned tuna misunderstanding aside, I didn’t dislike Nutri Bowl. Would I re-order? Not the canned tuna, no. But maybe, when I’m fed up of poke, I’ll order the steak bowl – maybe.
