Hari Prasad Pure Vegetarian Restaurant is one of the best places to get a South Indian breakfast in Discovery Gardens. Located on the ground floor of building 2 in the Zen Cluster, its interior is well lit, handsomely appointed and spotlessly clean. There’s an adjoining family section which is ideal for kids. Finding a parking spot can be a little challenging but the reward is worth the effort.

My food buddy Arjun and I visited Hari Prasad for breakfast early on a weekend morning. We started with an idli-vada dip followed by a rava masala dosa for me and a plain masala dosa for Arjun. The sambar is what stood out most for me, it was superb; tangy with the perfect amount of heat. Perhaps a more generous hand where the veggies are concerned could improve it even further. The idli and vada themselves were very good too. I enjoyed my rava dosa which arrived last but was lovely and crunchy. I asked for my masala potato filling to be served on the side rather than folded into the dosa as I feel it keeps to dosa crunchier for longer. It was lovely. Arjun enjoyed his plain dosa too. These boys also do an amazing filter coffee.

The staff at Hari Prasad were friendly and accommodating. Prices were similar to the mainstream in Karama with a masala dosa costing only AED11 and my rava costing AED12. This is without doubt one of the best spots in Discovery Garden for a South Indian breakfast and well worth a visit.
