Sadaf is an Iranian restaurant franchise famous for its value for money, all you can eat buffets. There are two branches in Dubai, this one on Sheikh Zayed Road and the other in Al Rigga. Both have been around for quite some time. Although the interior of this branch opposite the Trade Center has been spruced up from the fuddy-duddy mess it was, it still seemed to show its age. That said, it was clean, well-kept and cool. The buffet is upstairs.
Sadaf boasts an extensive buffet of Iranian and some regional favourites. Although not as elaborate as Danial or Apple Creek Café, it’s still quite impressive. Soup, salad, starters, kababs and an assortment of khoresh (stews) are included, some of which are not bad. I wouldn’t call the food particularly authentic nor is it of the highest quality but it’s fresh and fast moving.

Service is friendly enough and gets the job done. So, if you want to tank up on a budget, at 89 Dirhams Sadaf’s buffet offers pretty good value, especially considering how much meat and fish they offer. Manage your expectations where ambiance and authenticity are concerned, and you should be okay. Just remember, Daniel and Yashar are just a few minutes’ drive away.
