The food at Wagamama is consistently good and MUCH better in Dubai than in the UK. At one time Waga and Bentoya were the only places in Dubai where you could get a decent ramen. Now there are many, one which is miles better (of course I mean Daikan in JLT). But my kids were weaned off Waga, it’s one of their culinary comfort zones and funnily, they order exactly the same thing every time. This Maria Mall branch is one of Wagamama’s newer outlets and benefits from the new look which we (as a family) all agree works well. It’s not that much different from the original only better, more modern.
We always start with Edamame, Ebi Katsu and Gyoza. My wife orders the Teriyaki Salmon Soba, daughter orders a Chicken Ramen with nothing but udon noodles and chicken, and I surf the menu. This time I tried their surprisingly good Chicken Itame, rice noodles in a spicy green coconut and lemongrass soup topped with chicken, stir-fried beansprouts, red and spring onions, bok choi, peppers, mushrooms and chillies, and garnished with coriander and lime (Waga’s description, not mine). Our son, who no longer lives with us (☹), was like me and would order differently every time. As I mentioned above, the food at Wagamama is consistently good. Personally, I prefer the ramen at Daikan far more but will have Waga’s if I have to. My wife simply loves their Teriyaki Salmon Soba which she has with extra lime and coriander.

Service at Wagamama (all branches) has always been friendly and accommodating. Somehow, we felt it was extra special at this branch. The girls serving our table were amazing.

If you are fasting, try a bowl of ramen to break your fast – it’s amazing. We visit Waga more during Ramadan than any other time. Once the holy month is over, I want to try their breakfast. Whatever the meal, Wagamama (this branch in particular) is well worth a visit.
