In less than five years since Super Chix founder and CEO Nick Ouimet bought the brand from Yum! (the owners of KFC), in addition to expanding their US footprint, he’s also opened their second branch in Dubai, in Mirdif City Center (where Swedish Max burger used to be). I don’t normally get excited about fast food restaurants, but wow! this was really special. Located at the entrance of the North Food Court on Level 1 (that’s the Carrefour end of the mall) Super Chix is hard to miss.
The menu has a lot of variations to three basic things – chicken, fries and custard – yeah! You can choose to have your chicken breast fried or grilled. I chose fried (duh). In fact, I kept my first chicken breast sandwich order as close to default as possible ordering a Dynamite meal which comes with fries and a fizzy drink. I don’t want to oversell this but the Super Chix fried chicken breast sandwich is the best sandwich of its type that I have ever had. It simply obliterates everything else I have tried before.

What did I like about it you ask? For starters, I liked the fact that the breaded chicken breast was perfectly fried, crunchy on the outside yet juicy and succulent on the inside. I also liked that the chicken piece was bigger than the bun so you kinda have to eat around the bun before you actually get to it. That said, I felt the Dynamite sauce was nothing more than a mildly modified Thousand Island sauce with a very tiny little chilli kick (although, in all fairness, the smiley girl at the counter told that they have a hotter sauce). I don’t like pickles and, as proud of their pickles as Super Chix are, theirs didn’t change my mind (again, the smiley girl at the counter warned me about there being pickles in the sandwich). I’m done with the bitching. I liked the fries. They’re real, jacket on fries.
Big breasted sandwich Crunchy out, juicy in Real fries
Service was great; the all-Filipina staff were super friendly and checked on me not once but twice during my meal. A point to note is that you can order chicken tenders if you don’t want the carbs. They also have salads for the health conscious, but that kinda defies the purpose of coming to a fried chicken joint. Sauce and pickles aside I loved this place and highly recommend you give it a try. I certainly will be back.
