There are a couple of unique things about this new food truck burger joint at Kite Beach; 1) their food truck, Gordon, is actually a double-decker bus (a bustaurant), which has a super cool dining area upstairs (downstairs is the kitchen), 2) their burger buns have a doughnut-sized hole in them and that’s because they are designed that way (and yes, you can have them sweet), and 3) they have chips as a topping for their burgers.
I was advised to try the Crunchy Monster burger you see in the pictures. It gets its name from the Omani chips topping which gives this humungous burger its crunch. In addition to the chips, there’s a whole lot going on in there including cheese, caramelized onions and most importantly a meat patty which is chunky and distinct enough in flavour to shine through. The doughnut hole in the middle is filled with melted cheese, the kind you get in cinema nachos. It makes eating the burger messy and awkward. Which is why complementary plastic gloves are provided; a great idea…if only they had remembered to include mine.

Bottom line, with so many burger joints out there (Dubai must be the burger capital of MENA) is Glazed just another gimmicky newcomer or does it have something genuine to offer? I think it’s a little of both. The Crunchy Monster I had was not nearly the best burger I’ve had but it was good, and it was also fun. If you’re on Kite beach or anywhere in the vicinity, I certainly think it’s worth a try.
