The Beach House at Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort on the East Crescent of Palm Dubai is, as its name suggests, a beachfront café, restaurant and lounge all wrapped up in one. Its view of the Palm fronds, the waters therein and beyond is truly mesmerising. Its one of those places you can sit and stare out from for hours…in this weather. Summer is a different story.
Food at The Beach House is simple and unpretentious. There isn’t anything on the menu you will feel uncomfortable eating in your swimsuit; burgers, pizza, salads, fish and chips, etc. This is, after all, a beachfront restaurant. You’ve got fancier stuff too, but my food buddy and I stuck with their classics; he ordered a quinoa salad while I pigged out on their humongous cheeseburger (which is not something you want to order if you’re thinking of having a light lunch – especially if you’ve been breaking off pieces of bread from their complimentary bread basket, dipping it into a mix of quality olive oil and balsamic vinegar and nibbling, nibbling, nibbling).

Their burger is good. It won’t win any awards but, SALT aside, as beachside burgers go, it’s pretty good. Compared to my macho burger, Rudy’s quinoa salad was…dainty and cute, feminine almost. What’s important is that he liked it. But when I brought this to his attention, he spent much of the next hour suck-puffing one of his great big Montecristo No 2’s as a sort of declaration of his masculinity. Middle-aged vanity.

Service at The Beach House is pure Anantara, friendly, accommodating and prompt. This venue is one of the Palm’s hidden gems. At this time of year, in particular, it certainly is one of the must-visit places in Dubai and well worth a detour.
