If I had read the Zomato overview of Bahraini Kabab more carefully I wouldn’t be sitting in my car eating lunch. This is a delivery/takeaway facility only. They’ve got a couple of flimsy plastic table/chairs outside but, even at the expense of stinking up my car with the smell of kabab, I preferred it to dining on the side of a busy highway.
Bahraini Kabab is all about regional kababs and grilled fish. If you are a fan of Ostadi in Meena Bazaar (or Al Ustad as it is nowadays called) you will love the kababs here because they have the same roots. And as such, it’s the Tikka Masti to go for here. Note: tikka in Persian means pieces, mast means yoghurt. Tikka Masti is chicken or meat pieces marinated in a soured, hung yoghurt (almost like whey) which both tenderizes the meat as well as gives it its tangy taste.
Mixed grill with greens and a yogurt Koobideh Yes, that’s in my car! Mixed grill of (from left) Koobideh, Bahraini, Masti Chicken
Their mixed grill is the best way to sample chicken, meat masti as well as their signature meat Bahraini kabab. If you like fish I strongly recommend trying their fish grills, it’s something this little hole-in-the-wall specialises in…of course, along with their kababs.

This is very much a local eatery, so it’s customary to just drive up and honk; one of the ‘runners’ will come and take your order, offer you a drink (hot or cold) while you wait, and then bring your order back to the car as soon as it’s prepared. Expect to see any numbers of cars lined up in wait. You can also order home delivery. It’s all deliciously ‘local’ and very much worth a try.
